Less than 100 days until Expo!
This week we celebrated the 100-days milestone to Expo 2020 in Dubai. The Al Wasl dome at the Expo site and Burj Khalifa, the worlds tallest building, was lit up in celebration of Dubai welcoming the world. This mega event is the first World Expo to be held in the middle east and UAE, the hosting nation, has really put mega in the happening.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum captured this year’s Expo’s greatness on twitter: “100 days to go for Expo 2020 Dubai, the world’s largest cultural event. 100 days to go for the gathering of 192 nations in Dubai in the biggest global event since the outset of the pandemic. 50,000 employees have set up 192 pavilions & 30,000 volunteers are set for the mega event”
World Expos have been held for 170 years. This year, for the first time ever, every participating nation has built their own pavilion, creating an exhibition area twice the size of Monaco. Sweden’s participation is the pavilion “The Forest” which brings the Nordic forest to Dubai’s desert.
Expo 2020 Dubai will take place from 1st of October 2021 to the 31st of March 2022. The exhibition was initially scheduled to take place in 2020 but was postponed one year due to the pandemic.
