Step behind the scenes of the opening ceremony
Embodied hope, a perfect garden and a dive into the ocean, Expo will kick off with a grand show in the Al Wasl Plaza. The show promises to take its audience from the depths of the sea all the way to outer space.
– It is a sensory experience. It cannot be explained in words, you have to watch it, Amna Abulhoul, Executive Creative Director for Entertainment, says.
The show will be held in the Al Wasl Plaza where 3D projections on the inside of the gigantic dome, music, and performers together will create the experience. Abulhoul hints at the finally of the show without giving away any details.
– It is a breathtaking experience, you won’t want to leave Al Wasl Plaza, she says.
With performers carrying costumes over twice the height of themselves, different choreographies being executed simultaneously over the stage, and over 1000 performers on stage, it is safe to say this show is not something easy to carry out.
Mounir Cherkaoui, performing in the show, talks about how it has been to collaborate with all the other performers.
– With different nationalities, different knowledge, different mentalities, it’s a job where you get extra experiences. Us doing the show, we have become friends. We’re family, he says.
