Can we break the world record?
After the Cinnamon Bun Day at the Swedish Pavilion was cancelled due to a tropical storm coming towards Dubai, many people were sad that they missed the chance to eat the delicious treat. But now there is another chance.
Today, on the 8th of October, the visitors of the Swedish Pavilion can partake in something historic. Thanks to the local bakery Mr. Baker and the Swedish embassy in the UAE visitors can watch as the world record in “The Longest Cinnamon bun Train” is about to get broken. Cinnamon buns are going to be placed next to each other in a long line on the Co-Creation stage, possibly giving the embassy and Mr. Baker the title in Guinness’s list of World Records. This is done to honour the annual Swedish tradition of “kanelbulledagen” or the cinnamon bun day that we couldn’t celebrate on the 4th of October.
The cinnamon bun has been around for some time in Northern Europe, as the cinnamon spice was introduced to Europe during Roman times. Since 1999 the Swedes have celebrated this day on the 4th October, every year. Ask any Swede on Cinnamon bun Day and you won’t be likely to meet anyone that hasn’t eaten at least one cinnamon bun.
