EU Green Deal at the Swedish pavilion
Hosted at the Sweden Pavilion, the 1st EU @ EXPO event “EU Green Deal – Research and Innovation as a driver towards Climate Neutrality” was launched today with the opening of the Networking Village featuring EU projects of outstanding value that contribute to the objectives of the EU Green Deal and highlighting the EU’s excellence in research and innovation as a tool towards climate neutrality and sustainability, and the EU’s ambition of cooperating with partners toward the achievement of this global goal.
Visiting the village you will have the opportunity to ‘visit’ the world’s first offshore tidal array in Bluemull Sound, Shetland (Scotland), the production of clean low Indirect Land Use Change biofuels by growing selected high-yielding lignocellulosic crops on contaminated land, the development of an innovative process coupling concentrated solar power and forward osmosis technologies for simultaneous co-production renewable electricity and fresh water, the set up a CO2 conversion process using renewable electricity and water steam to directly produce synthetic jet fuels with balanced hydrocarbon distribution (paraffin, olefins and aromatics) to meet the stringent specifications in aviation.
