Take the metro to Expo 2020
From the 1st of October, Expo 2020 visitors will be able to travel to the site with Dubai’s metro’s Red Line from Al Rashidiya Station and step of at the exhibition. Public transport is a green alternative to travel to the exhibition site and the new metro station which opened yesterday to Expo pass holders.
“The Expo 2020 station, which boasts a unique design featuring the wings of an aircraft, represents Dubai’s drive towards greater innovation.” Abdul Mohsin Ibrahim Younes, CEO of the Rail Agency at RTA, earlier said during the opening of Route 2020 on January 1 this year.
The Expo 2020 Station however is not alone to be opened. Yesterday, the Dubai Investment Park (DIP) station also opened. “The opening of the two new stations on Route 2020 today (June 1) is geared towards serving the industrial, residential and commercial communities that surround the area. Staff working at the Expo will also now have a more comfortable public transport,” Hassan Al Muttawa, director of rail operations at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), told Gulf News.
This complement to the Red Line is a part of the extension called Route 2020, which will not only cater to the World Expo 2020 site, but to the people living and working alongst the route. Except the two stations which opened yesterday, the route has already opened four stations: Jebel Ali, The Gardens, Discovery Gardens, and Al Furjan.
