Scania invests heavily in self-driving trucks
Scania has invested in Scantinel, a company that “develops and produces FMCW LiDAR (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) sensors for the next-generation LiDAR systems that are a prerequisite to reach a higher level of automation.” writes Auto.com.
This technology enables Scania to tap into the future of self-driving vehicles where Scania already is at the forefront, with concept truck Scania AXL and tests of self-driving trucks in real traffic in Sweden this year.
Christian Zeuchner, partner at the Scania Growth Capital Management Company, has told Auto.com that: “The future performance and safety of autonomous vehicles is based on unique FMCW LiDAR sensor technology. We see Scantinel as the technology leader in its field and are excited to follow the development at a close range.”
The future of transportation is autonomous and Scania stands at the door.
