See the making of “future-proof” food
In an aim to create future-proof food, new drought and heat-tolerant crops have been developed. They are supposed to flourish even in as harsh conditions as in Dubai’s desert.
The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture in Dubai is creating unconventional ways of growing crops in order to boost food production on a local level. This is a part of securing future food supply when the climate conditions might change.
The center is testing over 13 000 seeds from over the world to find seeds that can grow in dry and heated areas, such as the desert.
