Swedish explorers are building their own space rocket
If you wanna go to space, you build your own rocket. This is the mindset of the two Swedish explorers, or self taught engineers as they like to call themselves, who have joined space week at Expo.
The couple has climbed Mount Everest, skied to the North pole and sailed from Europe to South America. The next destination to explore is Mars.
Building their own engine
They started a company called Pythom in 2020 focusing on space transportation and now they are building their first space rocket.
“Most other small launch companies buy their space engine. We did not know you could do that so we built our own”, Tina Sjögren says.
Their development lab is based in California on the east side of Sierra Nevada, two hours from Mojave space port – also known as the Civilian Aerospace Test Center.
“It is kind of the center of new space”, Tom Sjögren says.
Next year they are planning on shooting up the rocket and in three years their journey will hopefully take place.
Over the last couple of years space travel has changed dramatically. Hear Tina and Tom Sjögren talk about it in the video above and see images from the test trials with their space rocket.
