These are the country pavilions at Expo 2020 Dubai

News:   For the first time ever at the world Expo, each participating nation – 192 countries – will have their own pavilion. Here you can discover the different pavilions.

Construction is coming to a close at the Expo site in Dubai and the pavilions are standing tall in the exposition’s three different districts: Mobility, Opportunity, Sustainability. Soon visitors will flood the site – but until then, one can get a glimpse of the pavilions here:

Egypt
The Egypt Pavilion puts emphasis on time. Under the theme “Land of opportunities and prosperity” visitors gets to enjoy time travel through a 3D experience, see three original Pharaoh statues, and explore the country’s opportunities which lie ahead.

Madagascar
The Madagascar Pavilion in the Sustainability District showcases the country’s “unique eco-tourist destinations” and the aim to combine sustainability with investment appeal. The pavilion exhibits under the theme “Madagascar – sustainable sanctuary of nature”.

Morocco
The Morocco Pavilion is “Full of Opportunities”, as its theme foretells. The pavilion will showcase Morocco’s commitment to a sustainable future, together with the country’s opportunities and sources of inspiration. Here visitors can experience the ‘Wast Eddar’ patio.

Côte d’Ivoire
The Côte d’Ivoire Pavilion invites visitors to experience the theme: “The path to a new Africa”. Here one can step inside a world of chocolate, see how a boy named Silue’s life changes due to government projects, and learn about traditional costumes, materials and fashion.

Australia

The Australia Pavilion will highlight the country’s 60 000 years of innovation and invites its visitors to experience Australian hospitality. The theme of the pavilion is “Blue Sky Dreaming” and it is said to envision Australia’s possibilities and optimism. Here, visitors can also take part of Australia’s advance in astronomy, from the world’s first astronomers, to todays advance in the field.

New Zealand
The New Zealand Pavilion invites visitors to “Care for people and place”, as the theme suggests. The pavilion is located in the Sustainability District and will put emphasis on “the power of partnerships and transparency.”

Tonga
The Tonga Pavilion will showcase nature from a child’s perspective. With the theme “The earth is my friend” the pavilion aims to make each visitor into an “advocate for the Earth”. Here you can wander through a “magical forest” where flowers bloom every time you move.

Brazil
The Brazil Pavilion aims to recreate the Amazon basin, giving visitors the chance to experience Brazil through several senses. The pavilion puts emphasis on being in harmony with nature in order to drive sustainable development. This is mirrored in the pavilion’s theme: “Together for sustainable development”.

Suriname
The Suriname Pavilion promises to take its visitors from north to south. In harmony with this it displays diverse environments, nature and cities, the co-existence between human and nature. The pavilion’s theme is; “The power of diversity: Suriname an oasis of opportunity!” and visitors will also learn about “Moksie Patu” which means “everything in one”.

Peru
The Peru Pavilion goes under the theme; “Timeless, always Peru”. Here, Peru’s assets for building a better future are explored. Visitors can try Peru’s superfoods and enjoy sensory experiences.

El Salvador
The El Salvador Pavilion shows the future of the country’s infrastructure as a key factor in their sustainable progress. This embodies the theme “Transforming to be a driver in sustainability”. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in El Salvador through the coffee, nature, and a 3D-show.

USA
The USA Pavilion opens the doors to “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of the Future” and is highly focused on USA’s view of liberty and freedom. Here you can also get a taste of the country’s culture and see a show taking place in the ceiling of the pavilion.

Canada
The Canada Pavilion goes under the theme “Canada: the future in mind.” The pavilion is made in wood, mirroring Canada’s landscape. Here visitors can enjoy a 360° experience of Canada’s past present and future.

Grenada
The Grenada Pavilion is designed by Grenadian students. The pavilion’s theme is “The movement of people, culture, products and services” and invites visitors to get a taste of the country’s history and culture. Here, one can see the process of refining cacao beans, experiencing the tranquillity of the island, and take a tour of “The Island of Spice”.

St. Kitts and Nevis
The St. Kitts and Nevis Pavilion lets visitors immerse themselves in the islands’ nature. This through multisensory and interactive experiences. The pavilion’s theme is “Find yourself in a vibrant natural environment”.

Jamaica
The Jamaica Pavilion has combined the country’s role in the world as a logistical connection together with its rich culture in “a spontaneous street party in the midst of shipping containers.” Here one can get the taste, feel and sound of Jamaica. The pavilion’s theme is: “The riddim that moves and connects the world,” and music will be a big part of the visiting experience.

UAE
The UAE Pavilion is located in the Opportunity District. This, the host country’s pavilion, is shaped like a falcon in flight and aims to highlight both UAE’s history, position in the world and opportunities under the theme “Introducing the UAE’s rich culture and bright future.”

Bahrain
The Bahrain Pavilion focuses on the theme “Density as opportunity” which is mirrored in the pavilion’s architecture. The pavilion also offers a taste of the country’s cuisine, and interactive displays.

Islamic Republic of Iran
The Islamic Republic of Iran Pavilion can be found in the Mobility District. Cruising down the walkways visitors will experience water-filled runnels and their calming effect. The pavilions theme “An ancient and stable civilisation, a welcoming nation” is embodied by the opportunity for the visitors to try hand weaving a Persian carpet.

Oman
The Oman Pavilion, here visitors can experience how frankincense has benefited Oman in different sectors. The pavilions theme is “Oman – opportunities over time” however, frankincense can be seen thematically permeating the pavilion as well.

Kuwait
In the Kuwait Pavilion the theme “New Kuwait: new opportunities for sustainability” is highlighted. Embodying the theme is “The Spring of Life,” an exhibition which showcases the country’s sustainability vision and invites visitors to actively take part in the exhibition.

Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Arabia Pavilion at the size of two football pitches, is described to create a “thought-provoking and memorable journey” while introducing visitors to both the history and the future of the country.

Monaco
The Monaco Pavilion invites to a multi-sensory experience of the French Riviera. Here, visitors find the “Garden of Opportunities,” and the Kaleidoscope in which the country’s culture is showcased. The pavilion’s theme is “Monaco 360° – a world of opportunities” and the 360° part of the exhibition is found on the second floor where visitors can experience a 360-degree immersion of Monaco’s history.

Malta
The Malta Pavilion and its theme; “where the classic meets the modern” deep dives into the country’s culture. The pavilion will mirror Malta’s energy, artistic communities, hospitality and the “blues of the Mediterranean Sea.”

Belarus
The Belarus Pavilion with the theme “Forest of future technology” aims to showcase the importance of collaboration for a better future. It invites to an interactive “Tree of Mind” installation and has hinted about a 4D bioprinter that will be revealed.

Romania
The Romania Pavilion with the theme “New nature” encourages visitors to contribute their ideas for the future in the Connecting Minds workshop. The pavilion will explore the country’s history as well as nature’s correlation with economic growth and innovation.

Serbia
The Serbia Pavilion sure lives up to its theme: “Virtual reality exploration of the ideas of past and future”, visitors are given the opportunity to create their own avatar to experience the pavilion’s virtual metaverse. Through virtual reality, the pavilion introduces the country’s innovation, creativity, history and nature.

Czech Republic
The Czech Republic Pavilion features the S.A.W.E.R system which creates water out of the air with the help of solar energy. This innovation fits the pavilion’s placement in the Sustainability District well, however the pavilion does not only showcase sustainable innovations, but also the country’s culture and history.

Ireland
The Ireland Pavilion will present the country as a place to be inspired. The theme “Ireland – island of inspiration” shines through the full visitor experience. The pavilion features a “Be Inspired” programme, where visitors will be invited to workshops and entertainment and a 360° projection of Ireland’s history.

United Kingdom 
The UK Pavilion operates under the theme “Innovating for a shared future” and offers its visitors a glimpse into the future. The pavilion is inspired by one of Stephen Hawking’s projects and will continuously send out a changing message from visitors and AI combined.

Montenegro
The Montenegro Pavilion will bring Montenegros history and nature to its visitors. The five key elements of Montenegro’s nature will be displayed; sea, mountains, rivers, lakes and biodiversity, and in harmony with this a sustainability-driven future will be presented to the visitors. The theme of the pavilion is; “Montenegro – blessed by nature.”

Austria
The Austria Pavilion focuses on the theme: “Austria makes sense” and its exhibition combines people, environment and technology. The pavilion’s visitors will be invited to “experience Austria with all senses” through an exhibition combining digital and sensory features.

Slovenia
The Slovenia Pavilion features the theme “Slovenia. Green and Smart Experience”. Here, visitors will see a 360° projection of the Slovenian landscape and learn about the sustainable Slovenian business environment. The pavilion is built as a floating green oasis and will empathize the relation between innovation, business, sustainability and nature.

Croatia
The Croatia Pavilion will present Croatia’s different aspects to its visitors. The country’s greatest minds, culture, history, nature and science will be displayed, mirroring Croatia as a: “Country that Inspires Great Minds”

Portugal
The Portugal Pavilion will be focused on diversity and inclusivity, with spaces and exhibitions bringing people together, exploring opportunities in connecting with others. The emphasize on diversity and inclusivity suits the theme “A World In A Country” well.

Italy
The Italy Pavilion offers its visitors an experience of Italy’s heart. It will present the countries past present and future and highlight cultural and scientific diplomacy. The pavilion will “Foster cooperation, participation and development through cultural and scientific diplomacy,” writes the Expo committee. The pavilion will also feature a full scale twin of Michelangelo’s David.

Switzerland
The Switzerland Pavilion showcases Switzerlands diversity, from the country’s nature and landscapes to its innovation and opportunities. Amongst other experiences the visitors will be invited to get the thrill of Switzerland’s panorama from a magic carpet.

Spain
The Spain Pavilion showcases intelligent creativity. The pavilion has a theatre where a story of collaboration will be displayed. The pavilion will also display Agenda 2030 through an immersive exhibition and invite visitors to interactive experiences.

France

The France Pavilion, the Pavilion of Light, will invite its visitors to daily light shows. The light theme of the pavilion is in harmony with the aim to highlight “France’s commitment to building our shared future via political, economic, cultural and social initiatives and actions.”

Belgium

The Belgium Pavilion the “Green Arch” introduces its visitors to the vision of Belgium 2050: “a smart, safe and clean mobility future.” In the pavilion visitors can enjoy Belgian specialties from a take away kiosk and a brasserie.

Netherlands
The Netherlands Pavilion is a miniature world with its own climate system. Built focusing on the theme “uniting water, energy, food” and will invite the visitors to immerse themselves in “silence, warmth, coolness, light, darkness, agriculture and water,” writes designboom.

Germany
Campus Germany will showcase sustainability themed innovation and invite the visitors to an campus-like experience, putting education in focus in an innovative way. At the end of their journey, the visitors will be invited to an “exhilarating ceremony in the Graduation Hall”.

Poland
The Poland Pavilion has something for every age with a dedicated children’s zone and a display of Polish culture and technical and scientific advance. The pavilion will be focused around the theme: “Creativity inspired by nature”, and feature thousands of ‘migrating’ paper birds throughout the pavilion.

Russia
In the Russia Pavilion visitors will be able to enjoy modern Russian cuisines and explore the pavilion’s theme: “Creative Mind: Driving the Future”. To celebrate the World Chess Championships taking place in Dubai, amateurs will be invited to take place in a chess tournament in the Russian pavilion.

Denmark
Earlier in May, Denmark’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai was announced. The Danish Business Pavilion is said to be: “100% sustainable and completely dismantable” Construction Week, and will feature an 18-metre tall observation tower.

Estonia
The Estonia Pavilion “e-Estonia” will showcase the country’s digital advance, featuring data clouds the visitors can walk under. The pavilion will mirror Estonia as one of the most digitally advanced nations in the world.

Finland
The Finland Pavilion “Snow Cape” features the theme ‘Sharing Future Happiness’. The pavilion is described to give the visitors a taste of Finland’s climate with: “Water in dark lakes – shallow water pools – will create gentle sounds and cool the air around it.”

Latvia
The Latvia Pavilion is described as “a playground where magic is born”. The pavilion will include a small art gallery and showcase the country’s history as well as current advance.

The Lithuania Pavilion “is a wooden building that represents Lithuania as a country that is open to creativity, sustainability, communality, and innovation.” The pavilion is named “Openariumand will to a big part be focused around sustainability, which is mirrored in the choice of material – wood.

Norway
The Norway Pavilion “Knarr” explores the ocean and sustainable ocean solutions. Here the visitors will be invited to experience the ocean through an interactive exhibition. The pavilions reuse will be 80%, in accord with its highlight on sustainability.

Sweden
The Sweden Pavilion “The Forest” will bring its visitors the Swedish forest, letting them wander around the swinging pine-trees, and co-create in different interactive exhibition areas. The pavilion draws its energy from many solar panels, leading by example in the Sustainability District.

From desert to forest - Minister for Foreign Affairs saw the result

News:  The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ann Linde, visited the Forest. It was during her time as the Minister for Trade that Sweden’s Expo journey began in 2017. Last time she was at the pavilion it was only desert.

Nordic piano concert for peace

News:  A peace concert with piano music from the Nordic countries was held at the Swedish pavilion, as part of the “Nordic Piano Music Week” at Expo . “The special thing with visiting Expo 2020 Dubai is that we spread the Nordic music”, says the Swedish pianist John Nalan.

The Green Skeikh visited the pavilion

News:  "The Green Sheikh" of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Ali Al Nuaimi, entertained visitors at the Swedish pavilion with a talk as part of the series of speaking events during Water Week.

She will be representing UAE in the "Stockholm Junior Water Prize"

News:  Mishal Faraz was the winner of Water Alliance Associatios "RE-NEW Our World Student Water Innovation Challenge 2022". On Thursday she presented her "The Water Bottle Project" at the Swedish pavilion.

Electrical boats invented in Sweden

News:  The Water Week at the Swedish pavilion ha begun. A serious of events is taking place on the Co-creation stage. On Thursday Konrad Bergström, founder of X Shore, who makes hundred percent electrical boats.

Event to raise awareness about importance of forests

News:  “The forestry sector is a sector that can eventually make a huge difference”, says Ismahane Elouafi, Chief Scientist at Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and moderator of the event that took place at the Swedish pavilion on the International Day of Forests.
